The BDO needs dedicated, concerned Democrats to tackle some critical jobs in certain voting precincts. These include Committee Person, Poll watcher, Judge of Elections, Inspector of Elections, Clerk of Elections, and Voting Machine Operator.

It can be argued that no one has a greater impact on the outcome of the election in their precincts than the Committee Persons! Their role is extensive and involves faithfully performing several important tasks during the campaign and on election day. Read a brief list of these responsibilities. The people who work at the polls are performing one of the most honored and important civic duties in support of American democracy. They are the people who protect the integrity of our voting process and assist their fellow citizens in casting their ballot.

Volunteer Poll Watchers play a partisan role in that they "look over the shoulders" of the Election Officials on election day to ensure that all votes are tallied correctly and that all eligible voters are able to vote. At the end of the day, they report the final counts to their respective party officials.

The Election Officials (Judge, Inspector, Clerk, and Machine Operator) are employed and paid by the Bucks County Board of Elections. Briefly, their tasks are:

• set up and take down the voting machines,

• check you in at the table when you go to vote,

• assist voters who need help operating the voting machines,

• maintain order and compliance with the state Election Code during voting and the vote count,

• count the votes after the polls close, and

• deliver the official election returns (results) for that precinct to Bucks County Board of Elections
